I am in a great mood once again as it is sunny here and you all know I absolutely love it when it is sunny but absolutely hate it when it is warm {if you didn't, now you do}. It's just the African blood in me and the fact that I lived there most of my life {I guess}.

Now, while I was on vacation, I didn't have the time to post about my outfits as I was moving around a lot. But I did have the time to take pictures. So here is one of the outfits I wore on a chilly day in Turku, Finland. You can see my post on the places I visited in Finland here.

I love coral & peach in the summer. And what makes it even better is floral pattern. I am so glad I found those jeans in while shopping with my mum here in Latvia in a store called Meta. They were only about 19€. The bag was also a steal for 19€ from Parfois at Galerija Centrs here in Latvia. I cannot believe I actually had to think if I want it or not! I love it so much.

Starting off: {Skincare}

Hello my lovely readers. I am currently joining Stephanie of Steph's Inside Voice in the Starting Off project. Which is a way to reach out to those just starting off with makeup and share what I know and help you in any way I can as you start your beauty adventure. We are starting off this project with skincare, which I think is amazing because if you do not have a good start, your makeup will not look good.

Skincare is a broad term used to define as the name suggests everything involved in taking care of the skin in order to have healthy, glowy skin. Some people need to do less to have good skin, others have to put quite an effort. This usually depends on the person, their skin type, their way of life, climate they live in, etc.

Now, I'd like to talk a little bit about skin types because knowing your skin type will help determine what products you should use. I have oily skin and previously had a lot of acne which was hell. I still struggle to have great skin and glad it is a lot better now.
Even though 2 people have the same skin type, they may skill have different products that suit them. Just because 1 product suits me doesn't necessarily mean it would suit you. You just have to try them out and find the ones that fits you.

Taking care of your skin will involve a couple of steps which will be carried out daily such as cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and protecting the skin. Other's such as exfoliating or face masks can be done as required. This may be once a week or less often.

Cleansing
Cleansing your skin is important as it removes any dirt or makeup from your face and leaves it clean thereby giving it the possibility to breathe. Depending on your skin type, you may want to cleanse once or twice daily. Always remember that removing your makeup at night and cleansing your face is very important. You can use a makeup remover or olive oil to remove your makeup. When washing your face, never wash your face with cold or hot water. Luke warm water is what you want to go for. I personally cleanse my face twice a day using a birch tar soap, Garnier Pure Daily Gel Wash or Alterra cleaning foam. Wet your face, apply a bit f the product on your hand and wash it off with lukewarm water.

source
Toning
Toning is said to restore the PH balance of your skin. Some tonners just restore the balance which others are also said to kill bacteria, control shine or contain a spot treating ingredient. I personally use a product which will shock quite a few people. It is the Dr. Nona Mouthwash which can be obtained from a Dr. Nona representative or online. Apply the product on a cotton pad and clean your face.
source
Moisturizing
Moisturize your face twice a day independent of what skin type you have in order to keep it properly hydrated. If you have dry skin {depending on how dry it is} you may want to invest in moisturizers which contain shea butter and ones which contain SPF 15 or higher as dry skin needs more protection from the sun. If you have oily skin, do not think that you do not need to moisturize. You do! Just pick the right type of products for oily skin. I currently a few products which I use for moisturizing my oily skin e.g Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil-free Moisturizer, Lumene Glow Without Shine or Dr. Nona Solaris Body Lotion. Apply the product to your fingertips and then gently apply to your face making sure not to pull on your face too much.
source
Protecting
Protecting the skin using product which contain SPF is very important. The ultraviolet rays from the sun are known to harm the skin and therefore just because you do not get a sun burn easily doesn't mean you do not need to protect your skin. You can either use a moisturizer that contains SPF or a foundation. Apply this either under your foundation or if you are using a foundation with SPF, then just apply as usual.

Exfoliating
Exfoliating helps remove dead skin and deeply cleans the pores leaving your face cleaner that using just a cleanser. The easiest way to exfoliate is by using a facial scrub which contains tiny beads. You will see a huge difference once you start doing this once a week or as needed for your skin. I use the Garnier Pure 3 in 1 Wash/ Scrub/ Mask which can be gotten at any drugstore or purchased online at Superdrug Feel Unique or other stores. Apply a bit to your finger tips, then put this on your face and rub in circular motion.
source
Face masks
Pamper sessions do not only have to happen at the spa. Face masks are applied after cleansing the skin and there are so many to choose from. A peel-off mask will be great for oily skin & a moisturizing mask will be great for dry skin. I use quite a few different ones. Some of which include Himalaya Herbals Almond & Cucumbers Peel-off Mask, Balea Peel-off Mask, Balea Clarifying Dead Sea Mask, Balea Cleansing Mask With Zinc and so many more to choose from.

Travel diary {Places}: But we didn't see Santa

Hello my lovely readers. I think it is time I share some more of my vacation pictures with you. After the stop in Tallinn, we were on our way to Finland to visit my brother who is doing his Master's degree there at the moment. Since the ferry wasn't going directly to Turku, we decided we would have a couple of hours in Helsinki before we take the bus to Turku.

We arrived at Helsinki tired and spent hours looking for the station where our bus was to depart from. Turned out this information is only available online. Unfortunately for us, we had lost so much time we couldn't go see anything.

On the way back though, we had about 1.5 hours so we went down the street to see the Helsinki Cathedral and Upsenski Cathedral. They are both beautiful, aren't they?

Helsinki Cathedral
Uspenski Cathedral
It was a very long trip from Riga to Turku but we finally made it. It was quite cold the first few days but got warmer with time. Here are some of the beautiful places I visited in Turku.

Turku Cathedral
Turku Cathedral
Turku Castle
Other side of Turku castle
St. Michael's Cathedral
Ruissalo Beach

I hope that looks like fun because it was. I will be posting about the different outfits I wore while on vacation soon, so stop by to see that. If you are planning to visit Finland, here are a few things to keep in mind:

- Shopping can only be done until 20:00 on weekdays.
- Shopping can only be done until 18:00 on weekends.
- Most things are electronic or machine related. So do your research on where your bus departs from/ arrives etc as you may not find the help you need at the bus station.

With that been said, enjoy your weekend.

Review: Catrice Prime & Fine Smoothing Refiner

Hello my darlings, I hope you are all having an amazing Friday. A while before my vacation I found a new brand called Catrice Cosmetics in the drugstore. Catrice is a German brand which is sold in Europe but who knows what is next. They have quite a lot of products ranging from eyeshadow, mascara, nail polish, primers, foundation, lipstick, blush etc.

I decided to try out the brand and got a few things from them. This is one of the items which I got: Catrice Cosmetics Prime and Fine Smoothing Refiner which is an oil-free silicone-based primer.

For those who do not know what a primer is, it is a product you apply after your moisturizer but before your concealer/ foundation. A primer helps make your pores smaller and fills out wrinkles which makes the perfect smooth start for your foundation.

Catrice Cosmetics Prime and Fine Soothing Refiner Review & Swatches

The product is in a simple glass-like jar with a black lid which closes tightly and prevents it from drying out. The packaging is very classic which I have absolutely no problem with. Classic is good right? The product itself is quite thick, looks pale pink and is visible on the skin when swatched, but when blended it becomes transparent and therefore can be used on any skin tone.

I picked up this product for about 5 euros and I am totally neutral to it. It is said to keep your face matt, but I do not really see it doing that. I like that it makes your pores smaller and makes the foundation look very smooth when applied.

Quick Summary
Likes - Makes pores smaller
Dislikes - Not matt for me, face feels strange
Verdict - Not repurchasing. I will try out something else

Have you tried this product?

This week we have a very sweet lady co-hosting with us. She loves makeup, books, hair, travelling, snails, big glasses and smiling with her entire face. Well isn't she just a big sweet ball of sunshine?! Why don't you stop by her blog and say hi to see for yourself.

Meet our co-host for the week:

If you are interested in co-hosting this blog hop, please email Nia.

In the share section this week we have a very interesting beauty tip to share with you. Have you ever seen a certain shade of nail polish and wished you had it but didn't want to spend money on it at the time? Well, here is how you can get that shade using your old eye shadow and a transparent nail polish which you have laying around.

DIY Nail Polish, Get the perfect nail polish shade, DIY Beauty, Beauty tips, Homemade nail polish

We got this little trick from Chic Factor and we think it is an amazing idea. You can even mix more than 1 eye shadow colour if you need. And if you feel that an entire nail polish bottle is too much for you, why not mix as much as you need on a metal plate/ piece of foil?!

Now, before you run off to go try making you favourite nail polish shade. Leave your link so we can check you out.

Fashion and Beauty Bloggers Instagram Hop

Hello lovelies, I hope you are having a fab day. I have noticed I do not have so many bloggers on my instagram as on twitter and I really like seeing pictures of new makeup, fast ootds, fotds and other things which sometimes do not make it to our blogs.

I have tried using the hashtags #fbloggers & #bbloggers, and searching for instagram name through blogs or getting lovely ladies to send me their instagram name, but I would still love some more. So I was thinking...

And then it came to me. Just make a hop!

So this hop is an easy way for fashion and beauty bloggers to find each other on instagram. I have not decided how often it will run but that all depends on what you guys think and how many people join in on this.
So let's place just a few guidelines -
1. Follow me on instagram {cherryfashionx}
2. Check out the profiles of the other participants {it would be super nice if you comment & like their photos and follow the ones you like}
3. Add a link to your instagram profile {www.instagram.com/username}

Travel diary {Places}: Bright and early in Tallinn

Hello my lovelies! I am back finally and getting into my usual routines. I have missed blogging a lot and I am glad to be back to updating my beloved blog. I have so many posts to share with you and I thought I would start off by sharing my travel adventures. I love sharing pictures of the places I have visited and finding people who have been there or inspiring people to visit that place.

So starting off, we stopped over in Tallinn for a couple of hours and had a swell time even though it was quite cold. We walked from the coach station to the port and then headed over to the Old Town which was so beautiful.

On our way to the Old Town we saw this nautical restaurant which looked so amazing from the outside but unfortunately we did not have time to go in for breakfast.

When we got to the Old Town, we found out there was some sort of market or something with people selling a lot of different things and some people dressed traditionally. It was a lot of fun!

Those are a few shots from my time in Tallinn. If you are planning to visit the city here are a few things to remember:
  • Check the temperature online or better yet contact someone who is there to find out what the weather is like.
  • There are no maps available at the bus station therefore use your phone for navigation or skip the roaming bill and print out a map for yourself, or get one from the port terminals.

Let me know if you have visited or would like to.
