Hello beauties. It's Friday and we are all glad the week is basically over. I do hope your week was good and I wish you a fab weekend ahead. Today I am keeping my promise that Feature Friday is here to stay. I am introducing you to another amazing blogger who started off her blog not so long ago but is doing an amazing job. Meet Lydia of Lydia Rose.

About the blog & blogger
Lydia is a beauty and fashion blogger from UK who is studying English Literature. Before starting her own blog she spent quite some time reading other blogs and then decided to set up her own. She is such a lovely lady and has a cute teacup Pomeranian {I am such a sucker for dogs, I want a Pomeranian}.

Her design is so pretty!!! Now, here are some of my favourite posts by Lydia.

I would really love to try some of the shades in her Top 5 Lipsticks post, but not quite sure if I would pull it off like she did. And even though I am not blonde, I found her post on top Hair Products for Blondes very interesting and would definitely recommend all my beautiful blonde readers check it out.

The good and not so good of online shopping

Hi lovelies, I am so glad that I have finally had time to write this post. If this helps someone out there, it would be great. Online shopping for me was a world in which I could click on and on and it seemed like everything was perfect. But then I had to learn the hard way that it is't perfect.

Image: We heart it
We all love shopping, don't we? There is just something about getting your hands on the latest zara bag or buying that skirt you have been eyeing. We love to stand out and look pretty. Everyone has a different style and therefore we shop at different places, but in the end it is still shopping.

Quite a few of us like to shop online for a bunch of reasons. Some because it is just faster, easier access and you can do it at any time {even if you can't sleep at 3am}. Others because there is more variety on the internet. Yes, that means you sometimes have to pay for shipping, but in the end when you are the only one wearing that dress at a party, you understand that it was all worth it.

Online shopping can sometimes come with the consequence that the item doesn't fit or look as you expected and you therefore have to either sell it where you live or make a return to the store. Sometimes, returns can be quite a hastle and I cannot stand them. Of course you are safe when buying an oversized jumper, but disco pants, jeans or a bodycon dress are a whole different story.

Image: We heart it
We all know that when buying things, cheaper is not always better. And I have always kept that in mind but somehow I got too excited and learnt a big lesson about online shopping. Here is how:

A while back, I was dying to have a pair of black JC lookalikes but no store had it in my size. It was all getting very frustrating until I finally found  one store who had them in my size and in stock. I was overjoyed! Since I had to pay for shipping anyway, I thought I'd order something else and seeing as I didn't yet own a pair of disco pants and they were on sale, I went for them.

I received my order and my boots fit perfectly. The disco pants on the other hand were a bit small and I had to make a return to get 1 size bigger. The store wasn't very customer friendly and kept saying they haven't gotten my return & have therefore not sent out another pair. I sent them my payment slip as prove and still nothing was happening. I was so pissed off I think I had smoke coming out my ears like in cartoons.

The entire process of me actually getting another pair took months {I am not kidding!} but finally I did get it and was glad to know they fit. I will not be ordering anything else from that online store ever!

So you see what I mean?

So, to sum it all up, what I am trying to say is be very careful where you order from. There are so many websites out there and I like to try new things but this has really made me very careful with online stores I have never heard of or had anyone I know make an order from them.

Now to summarize, here are some of the good and not so good of online shopping:

Pros
Shopping at any time
Fast item location{if you are looking for just skirts, you can filter on the website}
More variety
Trendy pieces

Cons
It might not fit exactly as you want.
Returning an international delivery is a hassle.

Be careful where you put your money as it could just vanish and there is not much you can do about it.

If you think of any more pros or cons, please let me know and I will update the post.

Feature Friday: Glambeautys

Hello my lovely readers. I hope you all had a great week. It has been so long I did one of these posts and I thought I wouldn't be able to do one till next week but then I got some time. The last time I did this, I changed it up a little and decided to ditch the interviews and just feature a blogger that I love. Well, I am finally back and this time I am going to keep it going.

Hello beauties! I hope you are all having a fab week. I am still not done sharing all my amazing pictures from my summer vacation {Yes! there are that many & they are all from different places. I just didn't have time during the vacation}. So here is another outfit I wore while in Finland. These pictures were taken at the Turku Castle. If you haven't seen my post on places we visited in Finland, you can find it here.

This was such a beautiful castle. I love brick/ stone walls and could not resist taking a few shots which turned out absolutely amazing. I have my brother to thank for that.

This was probably my favourite outfit this Summer as it was super comfortable, chic and included quite a few of my favourite things. My favourite pastel green bag which I got from Parfois this summer for 18.50, my favourite sandals as they are the most comfortable pair I have probably owned and cost me 5, my lovely aztec dip hem dress from H&M which is amazing for hot days and only cost me 7.

Starting Off: {Foundation}

Hello beauties. It is week 3 now of The SO Project and I do hope you are having fun reading my posts. I also hope these posts will help someone just starting off with makeup out there. This week we have Foundation. If you would like to read the previous weeks, we have Week 1: Skincare & Week 2: Concealer.

Foundation is probably the first or second product you discover when you start off with makeup. At least it was for me.

So because I have got oily skin which is acne prone, it could be quite a challenge finding a high coverage foundation specifically for oily skin after the application of which your face doesn't look like a greased pan after 3 hours. I have tried quite a few products and would like to share some of them with you. Remember, keep trying until you find what really works for you.

Maxfactor Miracle Touch Foundation
I used this foundation for quite a while and I really liked it during the winter. During the hot months though it just wasn't doing it for me as it looked oily. The coverage is good and because of the consistency, I didn't have to use a concealer with it. I really did like it while I used it but then I moved on. Thinking back now, I will try using this but with a setting powder and my Urban Decay Oil Control Spray to see how that works.
If you would like to see, I've got a review here.

L'oreal Paris True Match Mineral Foundation
This is a mineral powder foundation which is good coverage and blends to match your skin tone. I was introduced to this by my friend who is a Makeup Artist and I love it. It works well on my oily skin and when I need more coverage I just use my MAC Pro Longwear Concealer on those places and blend it out.

L'oreal TrueMatch Mineral Powder

Catrice Photo Finish 18h Liquid Foundation
This is a medium coverage foundation which I use on good skin days when I do not need as much coverage. Even though it says liquid foundation, it is quite creamy. A lot more than other liquid foundations I have tried. I still have this foundation and I really like it but I am looking forward to the new collection from Catrice this Autumn.

There are lots of other foundations you can try depending on your skin type. Some of them I would love to try but do not have access to get matched or they are just a bit too expensive in my opinion. So just work with what you can get your hands on and make the best of it.

You can apply your foundation with your fingers, a sponge or a brush. I used to use my fingers a long time ago but I now use a brush and am considering trying out the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.

What is your favourite foundation & for which skin type?

Review: Maybelline The Rocket Volum Express Mascara

Hello beauties! It has been a while I wrote a review as I just have so many posts to share from my vacation and other things. But I know how much you all love to read the reviews so I though I would do this one as it is such a long time coming.

I have been using this mascara for a few months now. A really long time ago {sorry I cannot remember when exactly I got it} I saw this at the drugstore once and it had a discount and since I was thinking of trying out a new mascara instead of just sticking to the L'oreal telescopic I went for it.

I have been using it everyday ever since I got it and I love it! I am guessing I am probably running out now and would need to either replace or try something else again but let's see what the prices look like at the store this time.

Maybelline The Rocket Volum Express
Review of Maybelline Rocket Volum Mascara
Brush of Maybelline Rocket Volum Mascara, Where to buy Maybelline Rocket Volum Mascara, Opinion on Maybellin Rocket Volum

Below are some before and after shots in which you can clearly see that my lashes look longer & bigger after applying this mascara.

Maybellin Rocket Volume Mascara Application, Before and After Maybelline Rocket Volum Express Mascara

The packaging goes hand in hand with maybelline's falsies collection. I'm sure you noticed what I mean from the pictures. I personally really like this size as opposed to my L'oreal telescopic. It is shorter and therefore fits better into makeup purses. Even if you have the small type you put into your handbag and carry around, it still fits {I tried it}.

The brush is different from all the other mascaras I have tried. it is larger and the brittles are in descending order towards the nose of the wand. This helps you to get longer lashes at the outer corner of your eyes which is an effect which I love.

The product applies smoothly with no clumps and you can already see the volume from using this mascara after the first coat. But I personally like to apply a few coats and also apply it lightly to the tips of my lashes which makes them look longer.

Price wise, I think it is quite affordable. I personally prefer to get it on discount when it costs about €6 but the full price is approximately €11 here in Latvia.

Overall Summary
Price - €9
Likes - Volume & length on lashes
Dislikes - None yet
Verdict - Most likely repurchasing
Available - Superdrug {£7.99}, Feel Unique { 8.49}

What do you think about this product?

Starting off: {Concealer}

Hello beauties and welcome to another post of the SO Project series. This week we have a new topic and even though I am not huge on this topic, I will tell you all I know. Last week we started off with skincare and I told you about skin types and what steps can be included in a skincare routine. Because skin type is important, I am going to refer to it then and now. If you would like to understand you skin time, please see the post here. Now on to this week's topic - Concealer.

Concealer is a product which is great for masking or covering up dark circles, blemishes, large pores and other imperfections which we may have on our face. Again, it is different from one person to another. One person may need to use a concealer solely for blemishes while another only for dark circle. The place you need it for actually impacts on what colour concealer {apart from skin colour} you need and what shade to get to match that area of your skin.

I never realized it before until sometime this year that such things as corrective concealers exist. There are quite a few colours, which sometimes gets confusing... but most important is returning to your childhood and remembering the colour wheel. Here are a few shades:

Mint green -  This colour is great for neutralizing redness. Use this on blemishes or scars

Pink/ lavendar - this covers yellow in the skin and brightens dull skin. Depending on the shade of pink, it can also be used to cover dark circles. But since pink+blue=purple, be careful unless you give your self a blue eye.

Yellow -  this is used to add an instant glow to the skin, soften and neutralize pink tones and even conceal dark circles.

Orange - this is a great shade for concealing dark circles in olive skin tones, hide freckles or hyper-pigmentation or neutralize greyness in medium & dark skin tones.

Here are a few I have tried with a summary of what I personally think about each of them:

MUA Hide & Conceal Cover-up Stick
This product is available in light and medium shade. I tried this sometime a while back (last year or very beginning of this year) and the shade just did not fit me as it was too light. I wasn't too disappointed as it only cost me £1.

MUA Hide & Conceal Cover-up Stick
source

Catrice Allround Concealer
I bought this product (as well as others from this brand) a while before summer and have been using it on & off since then. 3 of them are too light for me so I don't use them at all. The other 2 which are corrective shades are quite handy. This product is available in Europe but I am not sure if it is available anywhere else. It isn't too expensive. Approximately 4 {as far as I remember}.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
Now this product is one which basically everyone has heard of. I was only able to get my hands on it this summer and I love it. This product is amazing! It is light weight, great coverage and stays on all day. Yes, it is on the pricey side {cost me 20€} but it is totally worth it. I will have a review up next week to give you the full details.
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
source
I apply my MAC Pro Longwear concealer with a brush. Anyway, I'm not very big on concealers, but I do hope you enjoyed the post. If you have any question or suggestions on what I should try for my oily skin, let me know in the comments. Also, feel free to leave me your links to your SO project posts.

There is still time to enter this giveaway: 50$ Paypal Cash!
