Review: Garnier PureActive Anti-Spot 24h Moisturizer

Hello beauties, I hope you have all been great. Ever since graduating, I have been having a hard time getting back fully into blogging due to personal reasons and then being ill. But hopefully I will feel better soon and can dedicate my free time mostly to blogging once again. I guess after you take such a long break, it feels kind of hard getting back fully. Or is it just me?

Since I have been using the Garnier PureActive Anti-Spot 24h Moisturizer for a while now, I feel it is a great time for me to do a review.

On first glance, the packaging is very Garnier-like. But I love the container in which the product comes in as it is the first moisturiser I have tried that comes with a pump, which I find great during application. The blue plastic in which the product comes is also a bit shimmery which makes me love it even more {as I always like shimmery things}.

The product itself is a white-blue cream which feels great when applying it on your face. It helps add moisture to my skin and I find that it helps keep my oily skin a bit less oily during the day while helping to fight the spots I have. I would not say my spots fully disappeared after constant use, but at the moment I have not found a product that removed the spots fully, so I would say it is pretty good.

All in all, I like the product and would recommend it for people with acne prone and oily skin. If you have just a few spots, it would probably work better for you than it did for me.

Overall Summary
Price - €6
Likes - Moisturized skin which is less oily and has less visible spots.
Dislikes -
Verdict - Repurchasing.
Available - Drugstores.

Recent favourite TV Series

Hello beauties, I hope you all had a great weekend. It has been sunny these last 2 days and I can already feel Spring coming. As Spring and Summer are my favourite seasons, I am getting really excited.

Today I thought I would do more of a lifestyle post and share some of my recent favourite TV series, as I find these posts quite interesting. It is always great to find a new TV series to watch on days when you do not feel like doing anything, or having a series marathon with friends & family.

TV Series: Under the dome, 2 Broke Girls, Pretty Little Liars, White Collar, Touch.

Pretty Little Liars
This is a mystery-thriller TV series about the lives of a teenage group of best friends (Hannah Marin, Spencer Hastings, Aria Montgomery, Emily Fields and Alison DiLaurentis) after one of them disappears. A year after her disappearance, the girls begin getting messages from a mysterious figure called A. A knows everything about them, all their secrets and is able to monitor their movements. Who is A? Nobody knows. This TV series possesses the ability to keep you on your edge and is very interesting. So if you haven't already seen it, you definitely have to.

White Collar
White collar is a crime drama TV series about a conman, forger & thief named Neal Caffrey. Neal Caffrey escapes from prison with months left on a 3 year sentence in order to find the love of his life Kate but is caught once again by Peter Burke. After returning to prison, Neal Caffrey gets the opportunity to be a consultant to the FBI (instead of sitting in jail) and help Peter Burke catch other white collar criminals by using his expertise in all things things related to theft, forgery etc. There are so many interesting moments in this series, and if you like crime series, you will definitely like this one.

Touch
According to imbd, this series is classified under Mysery, Sci-Fi and Drama. This is a story about a former reporter named Martin Bohm who is trying to raise his son Jake on his own after the tragic death of his wife in the World Trade Center during the September 11 attacks. Jake has never spoken a word and his father never understood why he keeps writing down numbers in patterns in his notebook, until Martin realises that his son can predict things before they happen. The series circles around their lives as Martin tries to help Jake prevent bad things from happening.

2 Broke Girls
Girls and money is always a great theme for a series or movie, so seeing this I knew instantly I had to watch it. 2 Broke Girls is about the lives of 2 girls: Caroline Channing who was born rich and had everything until her father was caught operating a ponzi scheme which made her penniless; and Max Black who was raised in a poor family. Caroline and Max work together at a dinner and have a dream of opening their own cupcake business. Such a funny series. Max's humour may not be for everyone, but I personally think all the ladies reading should go check it out if you haven't.

Under the Dome
This is the most recent series I watched and I loved every bit of it. I am really sad there aren't more episodes yet and cannot wait to see what is next. This series can be found under the categories Drama, Horror & Mystery. It tells the story of the happenings in Chester's Mill after a transparent indestructible dome landed on the town and trapped everyone inside. There is no communication to the outside world except the radio station which occasionally gets signals, and will limited resources, the town tries to survive as a small group of people tries to figure out what the dome is and if they can bring it down.

If you haven't seen any of these, you should definitely take a moment to watch at least 1 episode to see if you like it because personally I love all of them.

What do you think about these TV series if you have seen them? Any suggestions on what else to watch?

Review: Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub

Hi lovelies. Yes I caved and finally got the Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub! Even though for the longest time I had been kind of against it because I always thought why do I need it if I can mix some brown sugar and honey in my kitchen, I did finally purchase the famous Lush lip scrub this January. After all the stress I had with my Master Thesis, I went to get something natural for my face and then saw the lip scrub and thought "Oh what the heck! I deserve it big time".

Even though I am sure you have all read a million reviews on this lip scrub, I thought I would add my 2 cents because people have different preferences and tastes therefore something that is perfect for one may not be for another.

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub Review

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub Swatch, Sweet Lip Scrub

The jar in which the scrub comes is made of glass and covered in the lush label. You can see a bit of the product through the glass. The product itself is a fine, very sweet scrub with the taste  of bubblegum. I am a big fan of the bubblegum taste especially if it tastes similar to the bubblegum I used to have as a kid.

The product is applied using your finger to take a bit of the scrub and then applying it on your lips while moving your finger left and right in order to remove the dead skin cells on your lips, and then cleaning off the rest or just licking it off. This product is great because after it, your lips will be amazingly smooth and ready for the application of lip balm, lipgloss or lipstick.

Even though the product may seem expensive at first (hence my not purchasing earlier as I'd rather get something for my face from lush), it will last a very long time. This is the second month I am using it and the content of my jar has barely decrease, so I am estimating that I'll use it for half a year minimum.

I found that in the winter months when my skin tends to get dry faster, this product is one I cannot live without and as such am so glad I got it.

Overall Summary
Price - 7
Likes - Smooth lips, easy access.
Dislikes - very very sweet.
Verdict - Repurchasing.
Available - Lush stores, Lush online.

Review: Barbara Hofmann Beauty Cleaner

Hello my lovely readers. I hope you all had a fab weekend and are ready for the week ahead. I have never actually had a brush cleaner prior to this and always just washed my brushes with water. But not having 5 foundation brushes meant I sometimes used the brushes as is if I didn't have time to wash them.

I know dirty brushes are bad for the skin and seeing as I am acne prone, I decided to finally get the Barbara Hofmann Beauty Cleaner zur Reinigung und Desinfektion von Kosmetikpinseln. This way, I can clean the brushes before every use and don't need to wait for them to dry. Of course this doesn't make it squeeky clean so I will still wash my brushes as usual but I will not have to do it every day. So until I can get myself 5-6 foundation brushes and then get myself in the routine of washing them on the weekend, I'll just use the brush cleaner.

Barbara Hofmann Beauty Cleaner Review
Barbara Hofmann Beauty Cleaner for disinfecting and cleaning makeup brushes

The product comes in a spray bottle for easy use and is slightly pink which is probably one of the things that first attracted me to it. The packaging says to spray the product directly on the brushes and then remove the residue with a cleansing tissue. I personally prefer to spray on a tissue and then clean the brushes using circular motions.

I have to admit that the idea behind the product is great and now that I've tried it I am considering using it constantly, but the smell is awful. It may be because of the alcohol in it or something else, but I just cannot stand it. Whenever I use the brush cleaner, I have to do it in 1 room and then go do my makeup in another room. Other than that, I think the product is great. If you have any suggestions for a similar product with a smell not as harsh, please let me know.

Overall Summary
Price - approx. 10 in stores.
Likes - relatively clean brushes daily.
Dislikes - Harsh smell.
Verdict - Undecided.
Available - Douglas.

February lusting

Hello beauties, I haven't bought anything for myself for a while now {well, expect the order I made last weekend} so I thought I would share some of the things I am currently lusting after. Most of the items are winter pieces as it is currently really cold in Latvia and all I really want is lots of knitwear and faux fur to keep me warm.

Tartan Knitted Midi Skirt

The tartan trend is everywhere and I think everyone is really in love with it. I don't currently have any tartan pieces so when I saw this knitted skirt, I was in love. I think it is a great way to add some fun to your outfit while at the same time keeping warm. It is just a perfect win-win.

Benefit POREfessional Pro Balm

From everything I have read, benefit probably has the best primer there is and because I have large pores, this is one thing I have always wanted to try but could not justify the amount to spend on it last year. This year, hopefully I will be able to. Because if it is as great as everyone says, then it is probably well worth the money.

Striped Sweater Vest

This striped sweater vest looked like a great item to put over a cardigan in the summer. I have an amazing vest from H&M which is absolutely fab and  is probably my most worn item this winter, but I want another one. Because well everyone needs more than one vest to keep you warm.

Soft Faux Fur Cropped Jacket

I have seen faux fur jackets in stores and on bloggers, and even though this is one thing I am not quite sure how I will pull it off but I really want to try it. I guess before it is one item I would never have looked at but I decided to take the risk wit things and work with it {if that makes any sense}. So this winter, the faux fur jacket is one item I would like to try to style.

Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy 30-day Smoothing Treatment

I have been using relaxers for years on my hair well knowing that they damage my hair because my natural hair is very curly and I cannot imagine coming it every morning if it is all natural. Recently I started looking at straightening systems which I can do at home because salons here do not really know how to work with my type of hair. I found the Organix Brazilian Keratin Treatment and thought I would give it a try even though I am not quite sure how well it would straighten my hair, I am willing to give it a go as it isn't very expensive and maybe would at least loosen my curls making it easier to comb.

Peterpan Crochet Knitted Jumper

I have been a fan of collars for a while now and always trying to find some lovely shirts and sweaters which I can team together to look something like this sweater. With this sweater, I don't even have to bother, everything is done for me. I love this sweater because the colour is lovely and the contrast of the collar and the knitwear is great.
