Shoes Lustlist {May}

I've been having a bit of an obsession with shoes lately. I am constantly on the internet looking for a new pair but I'll need your help before I take the plunge and order them online, because the last time I did it turned out too small. They were an inexpensive pair so I didn't bother returning them as the hassle and postage fee just wasn't worth it. So, please let me know which brands you have from and they have the right size conversions in the sense that if it is marked as a UK 8 then it fits someone who wears an EU 41.

Now after a bit of my ramble, we can finally move on to actually discussing the shoes i'm currently lusting after. I am a sucker for beige shoes in the summer, although I do like a good black pair as it fits with lots of my office clothes. I've got a few pairs which are ideal for the office like the Black court shoes, the mint flats, the beige Mary Janes or the white block heel sandals. These will be stunning with either jeans, trousers, a dress or skirt. Making them great picks for a business casual wardrobe.

I also couldn't resist a few high heel sandals as they look stunning. Even though they may be too high for the office, I would still wear them to work as well as for an evening out. I think comfortable high heel sandals are the perfect pair for an evening out in the Summer. Lastly, I added some cleated sandals which I have been eyeing all over the high street. They look extremely comfortable and very stylish. I am really looking forward to getting a few of these and cannot wait to style them.

Which are your faves and where do you get your shoes?

Review: Rimmel Kate Eyeshadow Stick in Rose Gold

Rimmel Kate Eyeshadow Stick
Rimmel Kate Eyeshadow Stick Review
Rimmel Kate Eyeshadow Stick in Rose Gold, Rose Gold Eyepencil
Rimmel Eyeshadow Stick in 100 Rose Gold Swatch

I've wanted to try out a gold eyeshadow pencil for a while because I think gold is a great everyday shade when it comes to eye makeup. It matches basically everything and is very versatile. So when I saw the Rimmel Kate Eyeshadow Stick in 100 Rose Gold, I just knew I have to give it a go. Even though I was initially (and still am) looking for an amber gold eyeshadow stick or eye pencil, I'm still glad I got this one. There are other colours available including Deep Amethyst, Electric Saphire and Pure Turquoise. So if you like bold eye makeup, you can check those out as well.

The Kate Eyeshadow stick is a thick pencil which can be applied all over the lid, just on the inner eye corners or whichever way you like to wear it. The eyeshadow stick is very easy to apply, it glides on smoothly and is also great for carrying around in case you want to touch up. When I wore it with no eyeshadow base, I found that it lasted about 3 hours before it settled in my crease. Then I tried it out with an eyeshadow base which usually holds my eyeshadows all day and with this product, it held up for about 6 hours. I think this is because it is a cream formula as opposed to my powder eyeshadows.

There is one thing I really don't like about this product and it's that it requires a really large sharpener in order to get the product out again. But that didn't put me off one bit from buying it. Overall, I am happy with the product as it retails for about 6 euros and works very well for my everyday makeup looks.

Overall Summary
Price -  approx. €6
Likes - great colour and formula.
Dislikes - needs to be sharpened.
Verdict - love it.
Available - BootsSuperdrug, Druni.

Blush Florals

Curly hair and blush blouse
How to style yellow print shorts
Styling floral shorts

Last weekend was one of the calm ones. We didn't have any special plans and didn't want to go out of the city, so we went to the gym and then had a bit of a tanning session at the beach on Saturday. Even though the water was still really cold, I actually went in. I've been to the beach twice and I'm already beginning to get quite a bit of a tan.

On Sunday, I was finally able to do some blogging and catch up on some emails. Then we decided to take Candy out for a long walk and spend some time playing with her, so we visited the park in Clot which has gorgeous arcs made of bricks. It looks so amazing and reminds me a bit of the walls in the Turku castle which I visited 2 years ago.

I was really excited to put on a pair of shorts as I don't get to wear them during the week anymore, so I reached for this floral pair from boohoo which I got last Summer. At first I wasn't sure how well the blush blouse would work but gave it a go and liked it a lot. So I threw on my pineapple necklace, beige sandals and out into the sunshine I went.

It was a sunny but windy day, so I did get cold towards the evening but I had an amazing time with hubs and Candy. I'm thinking of more ways to style these shorts, so let me know if you have any ideas.

What do you think of the outfit?

Beauty benefits of aloe vera

Aloe vera is an amazing plant which has quite a few beauty benefits. I started using it when I was about 16 and was using it on and off, until recently when I started using it daily and it has been helping a lot with my skin. We've always had an Aloe Vera plant in every home so I was able to use the fresh natural gel most of the time, but you can also buy aloe vera gel in stores. I find the store bought product a lot easier to use as it is less sticky and doesn't need to be washed off. But remember, the more natural it is, the better it is for you. Here are a few of the ways I've used aloe vera:

1. Aloe Vera for healing skin or dry/flaky skin

Natural Aloe vera is great for healing cuts or if you're experiencing dryness/flakiness. It soothes the skin, helps it heal faster and moisturizes the skin. All you have to do is apply a small amount regularly, and you will notice the results.

2. Aloe Vera for acne

Aloe Vera not only heals the skin but also reduces spots and pigmentation. Its healing properties make aloe vera great for reducing acne both from the outside and from within. You can buy the aloe vera gel and apply it to the affected area daily before applying any other product. Then once a week, use the natural gel from the plant to do a facemask. From within, you can eat a bit of the gel daily. But this will depend on the type of aloe you have as I've found that some are overly bitter and I just couldn't eat it. In that case, you can always go with aloe vera juice from the store.

3. Aloe Vera as a sunburn relief

Aloe is great if you have a sunburn. It helps reduce the redness and takes away the unpleasant feeling your skin is experiencing. I don't usually get sunburned myself, but I've used it on hubs and it helped. You'll have to use it daily or maybe even more that once a day to see a difference in the redness.

4. Aloe Vera as a hair moisturizer

When battling extremely dry hair, you try quite a lot of things in search of what products your hair likes and which ones provide your hair with the needed moisture. I've recently tried applying aloe vera and loved how it made my hair feel. I used it as a hair mask as well as a leave in spray, and it made my hair really soft.

5. Aloe Vera for itchy scalp

Because of the antisceptic, antifungal and antibacterial properties of Aloe Vera, it is a great product to use if you have an itchy scalp. It calms the affected area therefore reducing the urge to scratch and helps with healing the skin.

Review: Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer

Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer
Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Review
Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro 5in1 Primer
Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer Swatch

I no longer wear makeup without a mattifying primer. My skin is so oily, plus with the summer heat which is already in full swing here in Barcelona, no makeup I wear lasts very long. So I always apply a mattifying primer before my foundation to help keep the oil away and help my makeup last a bit longer. Prior to getting the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer which I absolutely love, I got the Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. I've given it a go quite a few times and here are my thoughts.

The primer comes in an opaque tube of 30ml and is a cream formula which I really like as it absorbs well into the skin and doesn't feel like you have anything on. But you need to give it a bit of time to sink into your skin if not it makes your foundation streaky

It is said to be a 5 in 1 product which smoothes, resurfaces, brightens, mattifies and protects the skin. Now with this, I would beg to differ. It does feel quite nice when applied on the skin, but I found that the Fix & Perfect Pro did not smooth out my skin, nor did it mattify. When wearing this primer, my makeup would get oily just as fast as without a primer. I've tested it in different scenarios but I can't seem to get it to work. So in summary, I do not see the benefits of using this primer on my skin and feel that if you have oily skin, then it's better to go for a different primer.

Overall Summary
Price -  approx. €7
Likes - cream formula.
Dislikes - not mattifying and doesn't smooth out skin.
Verdict - Not repurchasing.

Review: ORS Hair Mayonnaise

ORS Hair Mayonnaise
ORS Hair Mayonnaise Review
ORS Hair Mayonnaise: Protein and moisturizing treatment

Hair is made up of a high percentage of protein, so if you want your hair to be healthy, you need to eat right. But eating right is not to only way to supply protein to your hair shaft. You can also do this with protein treatments or deep conditioners. Depending on how damaged your hair is, you might need this more often than others, and you can use stronger protein treatments if you wish.

Recently, I got the ORS Hair Mayonnaise* from La Bella Cosmetics and couldn't wait to try it out. The product is a thick cream which smells sort of like mayonnaise and herbs. It is a conditioning treatment which contains egg protein, olive oil, wheat germ oil, safflower seed oil etc. The instructions say to apply it to your hair, put on a plastic cap and then stay under the dryer for 15 minutes. I use a hair bonnet and usually stay under it for about 20 minutes and then wash it off. I saw results from using this product after the first use and have loved it ever since. It makes your hair feel stronger and look a lot healthier, so I've been using this every week or every other week depending on how much time I have.

When applying protein treatments to your hair, you need to keep in mind that you have to balance protein and moisture, and the ORS Hair Mayonnaise makes that very easy because it contains both protein and moisturizing ingredients. If you are transitioning or a natural looking to try out a hair treatment, I would definitely recommend you give it a go.

Overall Summary
Price -  approx. €5
Likes - Stronger, healthier hair from the first use.
Dislikes - smell.
Verdict - repurchasing
Available - La Bella Cosmetics, Amazon, Local Afro Stores.

New in: Rimmel Beauty Bits

New in: Rimmel
New in: Rimmel Beauty Bits
New in: Rimmel Kate Eyeshadow Stick, Rimmel Stay Matte Primer and a sharpener

It's been a while I got myself some beauty bits because I'm trying to save up a bit. But on my way to the post office last week, I spotted a store which had a Rimmel stand with loads of products. Ever since my favourite beauty store at Glories was closed, I've been looking for where else to get a good selection of Rimmel products.

I needed to get a few Rimmel products for a friend, so I went in and obviously couldn't stop myself getting something for myself as they had 20% off all the products. So I picked up the Kate Eyeshadow Stick in Rose Gold and because I didn't have a sharpener for such thick pencils, I picked one up. Then I restocked on the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer which I recently reviewed but will soon be running out of. And since it's the best drugstore one I've used yet, I decided to get another one.

What beauty bits have you bought recently?
