Items to redesign my work desk

Redesigning my work desk

My desk at the office has become very boring and uninspiring. This always becomes a problem for me because I spend so much time at work and I want to be surrounded by things that make me happy. So I've decided I want to revamp my cubicle to make it more personal and I've chosen a white and gold theme as it is my favourite for office spaces. I may be going a bit over the top with some of the items but I don't really care.

Decor

The first thing I picked out is potpourri which has a beach theme because the mermaid in me just can't get enough of anything beach related. I also need a bowl to put it all in and some crushed glass to make the white and gold a bit less boring. To keep random coins, lip glosses and other things, I decided I need some sort of fancy jar. The Gold Pineapple-shaped Glass Jar from H&M would be absolutely perfect although after checking today I'm not sure if it is available or not, but I really hope so because I need one for the office and also one for my home office/ beauty room. I love anything pineapple (I have no idea why); my friends sometimes make fun of me because of this.

Mousepad and stationary

What is better that pretty stationary? Not a lot. I've liked/pinned countless photos on instagram and pinterest of pretty stationary and desk decor. I just can't pass by without leaving my love for these. And I'd actually like to own some so I've decided to go with a marble mousepad and white&gold notebooks, pens, pencils, scissors and the rest. I'm having difficulties finding a store that sells lots of gold stationary and ships to Europe, so if you know any please let me know.

Whiteboard & Markers

My cubicle is mostly made of glass, but has a metal frame. So hanging a whiteboard might prove slightly difficult but I'll just glue it if I have to. The reason I chose a whiteboard is that I work with numbers all day and sometimes it's more comfortable to have the figures written down and not in a sheet in excel on my pc. For these cases I usually use sticky notes, but the amount of sticky notes I go through during the month.

What stores do you suggest I check out? What other items can I add?

Review: Catrice Ultra Stay & Gel Shine System

Review of the Catrice False Gel System

Pretty nails are something I think are important all year round. But I'll have to admit, I can be found wearing a chipped manicure from time to time. A while ago I got tired of that and decided to get gel nails done. They were extremely pretty but unfortunately they caused me to have a skin reaction and that was when I knew gel nails were not an option. So, I began looking for nail care systems that promise to give a week's worth of perfect manicure. After some research I had a few on my list to check out but couldn't find any of them at the store, so I decided to give the Catrice Ultra Stay & Gel Shine system a go.

Catrice says the Ultra Stay Gel & Shine system multiplies nail performance, acts as a colour magnet and extends the durability of nail polish to 8 days with a convincing and unique gel shine finish. This system does not require a LED lamp for curing, and it is easily removed using nail polish remover. The Revolutionary 3 step system includes a base coat, a nail polish of your choice and a top coat. The Ultra Stay & Gel Shine Base Coat strengthens the nail and evens out irregularities while the Ultra Stay & Gel Shine Top Coat seals the colour and provides a voluminous gel shine.

I have given the system a try and I was quite disappointed it didn't last the 8 days that were guaranteed. I did my manicure on Sunday night letting each layer dry properly before applying the next as instructed. The gel shine finish was beautiful and it looked like I just got out of the salon, but this lasted only 3 days before I saw the first chip. By thursday evening it wasn't looking good anymore and I had to take it off. This considering I only did the dishes a few times, so I was expecting a better result.

My search for a nail polish which gives the gel effect but doesn't need a LED lamp continues so if you know of any I'll be more than happy to give them a try. What I'm looking for is a way to have my nails looking good until the weekend because I don't usually have a lot of time during the week to repaint my nails.

Have you tried the Catrice 3 step Ultra Stay & Gel Shine system?

New in: MAC, Inglot and SheaMoisture

New in - MAC, Inglot and SheaMoisture beauty products
New in - MAC and Inglot Makeup
New in - SheaMoisture Hair Products

Firstly, I'd like to say Happy International Women's Day to all the beauties who read my blog. And now, let's go ahead with the post. I haven't bought any beauty products for a while because I've had so many things I needed to pay for I just could't justify getting anything I didn't really need. But to be honest, I can't go too long without buying at least one product. So here is the latest.

MAC

I was previously using the MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation and I like how it works for my skin, but then I ran out and could never find myself near a MAC counter. Finally, I stopped by on an evening out with a friend and got a replacement. If you'd like to know my thoughts on this foundation, I've got a full review here. Another product I ended up picking was the MAC Blot Pressed Powder. The story behind this product is extremely long so I'll spare you the details and just say my friend had to return a product for me and there was a difference in price, so I had to come up with something. I read some reviews and this seemed quite nice so I wanted to give it a go.

Inglot

The last beauty product I got was the Inglot Mattifying Under Makeup Base because I was running out of my beloved Rimmel Stay Matte Primer and I wanted to try something new which would help keep my makeup in place since my skin has been a lot oiler lately and the Rimmel primer just isn't handling it as well. I tried a sample of the Inglot Mattifying Primer and since it was working pretty well I decided to get the full sized product. I haven't tested it out properly since I only had a few days worth, but I'll have a review up later.

SheaMoisture

My friend gave me some products for my birthday which she got from an afro shop close to her place. So last week, we went to check out what they had and I was extremely happy when I saw that they had Shea Moisture. I got a bit crazed as I've been looking for a store which sells these for quite a while, so I was torn between which product to pick. They are pretty expensive at € 15 each so I knew I had to limit myself to maximum 2 products. In the end, I decided to try the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore Leave-in Conditioner and the Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie since these are extremely popular and everyone seems to love them. They both smell amazing, but I've only tried the leave-in and I really like it.

What beauty products have you gotten recently?
