Travel Beauty {Skincare}

Travel Beauty - Skincare

I'm currently on vacation enjoying some rainy days in Latvia and some much needed family time. I haven't visited in 2 years and over the course of time a lot has changed. When I was putting together my luggage, I thought about what skincare to take and what I can do without. With all the problems I've been having with my skin lately, I didn't want to neglect my skin during vacation so here's what I put together.

Garnier Express 2 in 1 Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
Bioderma Purifying Cleansing Foaming Gel

For taking off my makeup, I've been using the Garnier Express 2 in 1 Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover. It is a duo phase makeup remover which takes off even the most stubborn mascaras and I really like that it is lightweight. To cleanse my skin, I'll be using the Bioderma Purifying Cleansing Foaming Gel which is formulated for combination to oily skin. It helps control sebum production and blemishes, which makes it great for acne prone skin.

Acne Treatments: Bioderma Intensive Purifying Care & Neo Medrol

I never go anywhere without my acne treatments, and I recently started using the Bioderma Intensive Purifying Care which is supposed to eliminate spots and blackheads. In addition to that, I've taken my ever trusty Neo Medrol for those really pesky cysts. It gets rid of the inflammation and redness in about 3 days, but it is a prescribed treatment so unfortunately not everyone can get their hands on it.

Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer and Jurlique Herbal Recovery Eye Cream
Garnier Pure Self-Heating Sauna Mask & Montagne Jeunesse Anti-Stress Cucumber Peel-off Mask

Because no skincare kit is complete without some moisturizer, I've taken the Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer (review here) and the Jurlique Herbal Recovery Eye Cream*. Both of these are amazing, and even though I only recently started using the Jurlique Eye Cream, I am already in love with it. Lastly, because I like to do a facemask at least once a week, I decided to take the Garnier Pure Self-Heating Sauna Mask to deeply purify your skin for up to 7 days, and the Montagne Jeunesse Anti-Stress Cucumber Peel-off Mask to get rid of impurities and dead skin. I haven't tried either of these masks before but I've used others from both brands and they have worked really well for my skin.

Review: Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Face Lotion

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Face Lotion

One of my favourite things to do in the Summer is spend some quiet time on the beach. I love tanning and swimming in the sea, and in order to protect my skin I always use sunscreen. Earlier this summer I was running low on sunscreen, so I needed to get a new one. After trying out the Garnier Ambre Solaire Clear Protect+ SPF 50, I had sorted out my new purchase for my body. But being acne prone and having oily skin means you cannot use just any product for your face. So I began searching for a facial sunscreen. After a very long time in the Sunscreen aile, I settled on the Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Face Protective Sun Lotion.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Face Protective Sun Lotion

The product comes in a bottle with a pump, and I love the way it is swirly on the inside. This facial sunscreen applies smoothly on the skin and absorbs very quickly. It is oil-free and lightweight, which makes it perfect for oily skin. It has an SPF of 30 which I think gives enough protection from UVA and UVB rays. The packaging says it is water resistant, but I always tend to reapply after a swim. I've been using it every weekend I go to the beach and I love it. Although I would have preferred if it gave a bit of a matte finish so my skin doesn't look as oily, but it's a great product either way. It didn't cause me to breakout or have any other skin reaction so I would say it is great for acne prone skin or sensitive skin.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Face Sunscreen Review

If you are acne prone like me and have any recommendations on what sunscreen you use for your face, please let me know as I'd love to try out some new ones. I've heard the Murad Anti-Aging Moisturizer and the Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen are quite good but I'd love to know your thoughts if you've tried them. And if you know of any that give a matte finish, that would be the best.

Summary
Price - approx. €7.
Likes - absorbs quickly, isn't greasy.
Dislikes - doesn't have a matte finish.
Available - Superdrugfeelunique.

Review: Rimmel Super Gel Nail System

Rimmel Super Gel

Doing my manicure during the week doesn't usually work out for me. I can plan it all I want but then something comes up and my plan changes, so I have been on the search for the best Non-UV Gel effect nail polish. This way I can paint my nails over the weekend and have them last all week. There are lots of brands which claim 7 days or 14 days chip free manicure, but do they actually live up to that claim? I've tried the Catrice Ultra Stay & Gel Shine System and was disappointed with the results. The next one I chose was the Rimmel Super Gel.

Rimmel Super Gel Nail System Review

The Rimmel Super Gel is a two-step gel colour system which includes the nail polish and a top coat to achieve salon-like nails without the use of a UV lamp. The brush of the product is large, making it easy to apply smooth coats of the nail polish. The colour I chose was Angel Wing 022 which is a lovely soft pink that looks good on most skin tones. The nail polish is pigmented but still requires 2 coats in order to look good which I think is pretty standard. I really like that it dries quickly and doesn't require any UV lamp but still has the gloss and shine of a gel manicure.

Rimmel Super Gel Review and Swatches

Rimmel claims that once your manicure is done, you can get up to 14 days of gel colour & shine. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get that much wear out of it. My manicure lasted for 5 days, after which I had to take it off as it had started to chip. Actually, the thumbs already started to chip slightly on the third day, but nothing too visible until the fifth day. Considering other nail polishes last a maximum of 3 days, I am pretty impressed. It isn't the 14 days as claimed, but it's good enough for me. I'm going to look for another brand to rival this polish, but until I find one this is my current winner.

Summary
Price - approx. €7.
Likes - Gel finish
Dislikes - staying power isn't very good
Available - Superdrug, feelunique.
