DIY Egg White Peel-off Face Mask For Blackheads

DIY Egg White Peel-off Face Mask

I'm always on the search for new face masks that will give me the pamper I need and help improve my skin. From clay masks bought in stores to DIY masks which target acne and oily skin, I've tried them all in the hopes that they will work and I will have glowing skin free from blemishes.

DIY Egg White Peel-Off Facemask for blackheads

Peel-off masks are great if you have uneven skin because they go in the dents and help bring out all the dirt and blackheads. I usually stick with store bought masks such as the Garnier Cucumber Peel-off mask, but recently I decided to try a DIY mask and fell in love. It is natural and has so many skin benefits. It's also super easy to make, I promise. And, you already have all you need lying around your house.

What you'll need:

1 Egg
Kitchen tissue
Scissors
A small glass

Step 1

Get an egg and separate the egg yolk from the egg white. For this face mask, we need only the egg white which contains different types of protein including collagen, potassium & other nutrients. This mask helps tighten the skin and reduce large pores, as well as control oiliness. It improves the elasticity of the skin and helps reduce fine wrinkles.

Step 2

Place the kitchen tissue on your face to get an idea of where your eyes, nose and mouth will be, and then cut out holes. You can either cut them out straight away or use a pen/pencil to outline and then cut.

Step 3

Apply the egg white to the tissue using your fingers. This can get slightly messy so be sure to do this in the bathroom. At this stage, what is most important is that you apply to all 4 sides of the face: forehead, chin and cheeks. This will help when performing the next step as the tissue will stick better.

Step 4

Place the tissue on your face and then apply some more egg white so it fully sticks to your face. Be careful when doing this, because the first time I did, I had egg white all over the place. I would suggest bringing the glass/plate containing the egg white really close to your face and then applying it.

Step 5

Leave it on for 15-20 minutes or until the egg white dries. Meanwhile, listen to some music, watch a movie or do anything else which doesn't require lots of moving around as we don't want the mask to fall off.

Step 6

Take the tissue by the corners and peel it off. You'll get out all the dirt and blackheads, as well as some unwanted facial hair.

Step 7

Wash your face with luke warm water and apply a moisturizer.

Didn't I promise it's extremely easy and doesn't require lots of ingredients? I would recommend this for oily skin because it does have a tightening and drying effect, which might be a bit overwhelming for dry skin but perfect for oily skin. If you have combination skin, I'd recommend focusing this on your T-zone.

Stay Warm In An Oversized Cardigan

Oversized Cardie OOTD
Laid back outfit

Have you been to Barcelona in the winter? Well, I'll let you know it isn't always warm. Ofcourse we have sunny days with 17°C, but we also have cold mornings with 3°C. Winter time for me is all about warm and comfort, and a bit less about style because nobody wants to have the flu from hell. Cardigans are one of my favourite items for the winter because you can take them off when it gets stuffy at the office and put them back on without any problem.

While shopping the January sales, I came across this dark grey cardigan in Bershka and just had to have it. It is really warm and cozy, and the colour is amazing because it fits with pretty much everything. It's also a tad fluffy making it warm to wrap in when you've got the chills. It is probably one of my favourite winter items in my closet right now, plus it was a total steal at just 10. I love pairing it with a chocker for a stylish everyday look.

This weekend, I was looking for something comfy for our trip to La Roca Village and decided to wear my comfy cardie with jeggings and my new Calvin Klein sneakers, for a casual laid back look. Please ignore how messy my twists look, I've had them in for quite a while. If you'd like to find out how to style them, be sure to check out these 8 easy hairstyles.

How To Style Marley Twists: 8 Easy Hairstyles

How to style braids and twists

I love braids/ twists because they give you a totally different look, they protect your hair, and give it time to breathe from all the brushing and daily maniculation. Once you have your hair in braids, you'll get at least a 2 week break from all the products you apply and touching that you do. Protective styling helps your hair grow and remain healthy. Even though there are protective styles you can do on a daily basis, I find braids amazing because of how long you can wear them.

The first time I tried out marley twists, I fell in love. You can check out my post on Marley twists for details. And if you're interested, I can make a youtube video showing how I do them myself. It usually takes me about 3 hours, but more if I have a friend over to keep me company. I always use the invisible braid method because it looks a lot more natural. Most people never even know I'm wearing extensions unless I tell them, although this year it's a bit more obvious as I've done the blonde ombre/ balayage.

Braids don't have to be boring, because you can style them almost the same way as you'd style your natural hair. I've been wearing mine in different styles and thought I'd show you a few. Let me know which is your favourite.

Half bun

Marley Half-bun

Separate your hair in 2 sections. Then tie the top with a band and twist the hair in the form of a bun. Place the ends into the band and if needed secure the bun using bobby pins. Even without bobby pins, the bun stays in place really well for me so sometimes I just don't bother.

Fountain marley

Separate the front section of your hair and tie it at the top of your head, letting the braids fall down. This is my go to hairstyle when I am in a rush but want to do something other than leave them down. It's very easy and looks pretty.

Harley Quinn ponytails

Separate the braids vertically in half so you're left with one section on either side of your head. Put a band around each section. If they are not on the same level, hold the part of the braids closest to the rubber and pull. This should help move the band to position it correctly. These ponytails make me feel like a 2 year old. They are so cute and quirky, and give your outfit a totally different look.

Bun

This is another easy hairstyle, for which you just need to take all your hair and tie it at the top of your head. Then starting from the top, twist the braids together and roll the hair into a bun. Take the ends and stuff them in the band used to fix your hair. Use bobby pins to hold the braids in place in a few spots, or if you're in a rush you can just leave it without the bobby pins. This gives a polished look but is quite heavy on the head.

Mermaid Braid

Mermaid braid, fishtail braid

This is my favourite party hairstyle when I've got braids done. I put all my hair on the right side and twist the front section of my hair until I get to my ear. Then hold the hair in 2 sections and do a fishtail braid by taking two braid on one side and joining it to the other. I keep doing this until I get to the very end, and then apply a band to hold it. This hairstyle is another heavy one but looks amazing!

Half-up Space buns

Separate your hair in 2 sections. Take the front section and separate it vertically in two, and tie each section. Take the first section on the right or left and twist it into a bun. Secure the ends in the elastic and repeat the same with the second section. This is probably my favourite one of all. The half-up space buns! It looks so cute, I just can't get enough.

Messy top knot

Messy Marley Top knot

Separate your hair horizontally in 2 sections. Take the front section and put a band around it twice. When putting the band the second time, you only have to pull out the braids half way. You'll be left with a top knot. Messy up the top knot by moving the braids around and pulling some more than others.

Pulled back top knot

Pulled back marley top knot

This is a version of the messy top knot which is just positioned differently. When positioning the braids before pulling them together, make sure to put it more towards the back, and flatten the top knot a bit to achieve the final look.
